South asian woman seeks reconstructive nose surgery at DeRosa Clinic Back Bay
Procedure Details
This 20 year old young woman consulted with Dr. Jaimie DeRosa to correct her nasal deformity. Her history was notable for being born with poorly formed midfacial bones, also known as congenital maxilliary hypoplasia, which caused nasal deformity. After discussing her concerns and desires, Dr. DeRosa performed a careful exam and found that her nasal tip was lacking support and was under-projected, meaning that it did not stick out far enough from the face. The profile of the nose was also flattened, due to loss of dorsal bone and cartilage support, which is also called a saddle nose deformity. Dr. DeRosa used the patient's own rib cartilage (autologous rib graft) to reconstruct nose and provide support as well as restore normal appearance.
