Enhance Your Facial Balance
and Harmony
Primary rhinoplasty is nose surgery performed for the first time to refine the nose’s shape, size, proportions, or function. Dr. DeRosa carefully tailors your procedure to your facial features and personal goals. Rhinoplasty surgery may address concerns involving the nose bridge, tip, nostrils, symmetry, or overall balance while also correcting structural issues that affect breathing. The goal is a natural-looking refinement that helps you feel like yourself, only better and more confident.
DR. DEROSA ON RHINOPLASTY
Do I Need Primary Rhinoplasty?
You may consider primary rhinoplasty if you have never had nose surgery and would like to refine your nose’s appearance, improve its proportions, or address structural concerns that affect breathing. Dr. DeRosa will listen carefully to your concerns and help determine whether surgery aligns with your individual goals. Primary rhinoplasty may be appropriate if:
* You feel your nose is out of proportion with your other facial features.
* You would like to refine the bridge or tip of your nose.
* You are concerned about asymmetry, wide nostrils, or another feature of your nose.
* You experience breathing difficulties related to the internal structure of your nose.
* You have realistic expectations and want natural-looking changes.
* You are in good overall health and can safely undergo elective surgery.
* You want an individualized plan to help you look refreshed and balanced.
What Are the Benefits of Primary Rhinoplasty?
* Improved balance between your nose and other facial features
* Refined nasal shape, size, tip, or bridge
* Correction of visible asymmetry or disproportion
* Potential improvement in breathing when structural concerns are addressed
* Natural-looking refinement tailored to your unique features
* Greater confidence in your facial appearance and profile
* Personalized results to keep you looking unmistakably like yourself
How is Primary Rhinoplasty Performed?
At DeRosa Center, Dr. Jaimie DeRosa performs your primary rhinoplasty in our practice’s private, on-site QUAD A–certified surgical suite. Depending on your anatomy and treatment plan, she may use an open approach, with a small incision across the columella between your nostrils, or a closed approach, with incisions entirely inside your nose. These incisions provide access to the bone, cartilage, and supporting structures beneath your nasal skin.
Dr. DeRosa reshapes these structures according to your needs. She may carefully reduce a prominent bridge, reposition nasal bones, reshape or support the tip cartilage, narrow the nasal base, or straighten internal structures. Cartilage grafts, often obtained from your nasal septum, may be placed to strengthen or reshape specific areas. After confirming your nose’s structure, proportions, and support, Dr. DeRosa closes the incisions and typically places an external splint to protect your newly shaped nose during the healing phase.
Rhinoplasty Patient Reviews:
My rhinoplasty was the best thing I ever did for myself, I’m so much more confident now, much less self conscious, and I still look like myself, just better. I would recommend any friend or family member to Dr. DeRosa for a rhinoplasty, she really changed my life and became a friend in the process.

I needed to have my entire nose restructured. I was very apprehensive about going to a location that was not “in” one of the major Boston hospitals. In the end, after many consults elsewhere and recommendations from top Boston MD’s, I decided to move ahead w Dr. DeRosa and have her do the procedure in her Newbury Street surgical center. The procedure went perfectly, I felt so at ease and the results are just perfection. She is beyond talented.

Very happy with the service I love my new nose

Primary Rhinoplasty FAQs:
What is Recovery Like After Primary Rhinoplasty?
You can expect swelling, bruising, congestion, and tenderness during the early stages of recovery. An external splint is generally worn for approximately one week to support and protect your nose. Many patients feel comfortable returning to work and social activities within one to two weeks, although visible swelling may persist longer. Dr. DeRosa will provide personalized instructions regarding exercise, sleeping position, glasses, and other activities.
When Will I See My Final Rhinoplasty Results?
You should notice a change once your splint is removed, but your nose will continue evolving as swelling subsides. Much of the swelling improves during the first several weeks and months, while subtle residual swelling, particularly around the nasal tip, can take a year or longer to resolve. Your final result gradually becomes more defined throughout this process.
Will I Have Visible Scars?
With closed rhinoplasty, your incisions are positioned inside your nostrils and therefore are not externally visible. Open rhinoplasty involves an additional small incision across the columella. This incision is carefully placed and becomes less noticeable as it heals.
